Dirk Bartels, Chief Executive Officer, Founder
Dirk Bartels has more than 20 years of leadership experience in business development, international business, investor relations, marketing and sales, private and public financing, project management and software engineering.
Bartels founded Companion Worlds, Inc. in January 2003. Before that, he spent nine years as co-founder, president and CEO of Poet Holdings, Inc. in San Mateo, Calif., a leading provider of enterprise software. Prior to Poet, Bartels founded and served as general manager of BKS Software GmbH in Berlin, Germany, for nine years. A fitness enthusiast, he played ice hockey professionally in Germany from 1979 to 1981, has competed in more than 100 triathlons over the past 10 years, has finished the Ironman Hawaii three times and was a Team USA Triathlon member for the Triathlon World Championships from 2002 - 2004. Bartels received a master’s degree in computer science from Technical University, Berlin, Germany.
Jeff Holt, Chief Technology Officer, Co-Founder
Jeff Holt has been working in the Silicon Valley startup scene since 1997. He has lead software development teams and has served as a lead architect at companies such as MSC Software, Waterfall Networks, and Replicus Software Corporation. Jeff received his BA in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford.
Jeff joined Dirk Bartels in founding Companion Worlds Inc. in January 2003. He brings a personal interest in fitness to his work on Progio, having competed in triathlons and other endurance races since 1992. He is a two time finisher of the Hawaii Ironman World Championship.
